Dorothy Cobb, daughter of the late Logan Abbott and Emma Gertrude Matthews Abbott was born on April 21, 1921 in Grayridge, Missouri and departed this life on February 28, 2015 at the Central Gardens Residential Care Facility in Dexter at the age of 93 years.
Mrs. Cobb was a home-maker, member of the Grayridge General Baptist Church, and a resident Grayridge, Missouri.
She was first united in marriage to Claude Adams on August 9, 1938 in Sikeston, Missouri. Mr. Adams preceded her in death. On February 19, 1951 she was united in marriage to Homer Carl “Beck” Maddox in Piggott, Arkansas. Mr. Maddox preceded her in death on April 17, 1978. Mrs. Cobb was then united in marriage to Wilburn Cobb on August 6, 1982 in Grayridge, Missouri. Mr. Cobb preceded her in death on July 15, 1988.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar Lloyd Adams and Bill Harris; three daughters Shirley Adams Matthews, infant Martha Ann Adams, and Janice Adams Scott; by five brothers, John Wesley Abbott, Jimmy Abbott, Floyd Abbott, Leroy Abbott, and Marion Abbott; three sisters, Fannie Jane Abbott, Eleanor Abbott Coke, and June Abbott Knight; and by one great-great-grandson, Cooper Jernigan.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Linda Matthews Drew, Rhonda Matthews, and Timothy Harris; by six great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Dale McFarland officiating.
Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex, Missouri.
