Richland High School Monthly Update
March 23rd 2013 by Beth Farrah
A note from Mrs. Rhodes, High School Principal:
One more quarter to go! Our students have been achieving a lot of success in several activities! we have several students making it to the State level of competition in FCCLA, History Day, and FFA. FBLA and Library Club are representing Richland at their State conventions, as well.
At District History Day, out of approximately eighteen districts, Richland was one of the top for districts with the most awards won! We are also in the running for the Overall Sweepstakes Award.
Beta Club will be going to Nationals in Alabama in June. The Beta Club video of the campaign skit and speech performed in Branson were available to watch at the annual Talent Show. Videos of Jessica Shidler, the retiring State Secretary, and Kannon Qualls, the newly elected State Vice President, gave their speeches to over 1,000 Missouri Betas. It was amazing!
Congratulations to the Library Club for earning a Silver Banner in the Battle of the Belt competition along with all of our Scholastic winners. Jamie Smith said it best at History Day when she said, "Mrs. Rhodes, I think Richland is making a comeback." And she is right!
Our next hurdle will be the upcoming MAP and EOC exams. Teachers may be contacting parents in regarding tutoring in some of the areas that will be tested in as an added reinforcement and a way to bring up their test scores. It is important that students get plenty of rest and make every effort to be in attendance during testing.
