Dexter Student Body Electrified the Audience

Dexter, Missouri - The Bearcat Event Center was filled to capacity Thursday evening for the District Championship game between the Lady Bearcats and the Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs.  It was literally standing room only with folks situated along the outer rim of the court.

There's nothing like a District Championship game to fire up the Bearcats cheering section, except a State Championship game, but tonight the student body was most definitely excited to be here.

Not sure who's idea it was, but never before have so many students organized themselves to cheer at any athletic event.  The fans loved it!

What fueled these students?  What drove their emotions to chant, scream, wave their hands, paint their faces and dance outrageously for the Girls Basketball Team?  PRIDE!   BEARCAT PRIDE!!

They are unique!  They bleed red and black!  They have a special high school bond and they are the "tour de force" of the Bearcat Nation.

Bearcat pride isn't something you have during a winning season. It's something you have with you all the time, something you have grown up with, a feeling that you get every time you watch a game or read about the players.

Being a Bearcat fan is more than being a nation.  It goes deeper than that.  It is about being something special in the high school sports arena.  It's a bond that lasts a lifetime.

The students of Dexter gave their all for this basketball game.  If you weren't at the game, you could not truly appreciate the noise, the feeling, the heart pounding emotion of those boys and girls in the stands.  Their spirit was contagious and when the music started to play at half-time, the audience went wild!  And so did the students!

The latest craze, the "Harlem Shake" and this student body perfected the "Shake" by doing some crazy convulsive dancing in the bleachers while dressing rather ridiculously in red and black.  They even held crazy props, wore wild looking hats and red frilly tutus and of course showed off their Bearcat spirit!  Batmat was there, Cat in the Hat was there, and of course BEARCAT was there!

/images/DHS Rowdy 3.jpg There are even videos captured by Dexter fans running rampant on Facebook and other video sources.  The students are getting rave reviews and excellent comments about their exhilarating evening.  Will we see more of this Bearcat behavior?  Let's hope so!

Thank you students for livening up a crowd of Bearcat fans who truly are dedicated to the athletic programs at Dexter.   We loved it!  We hope to see you in Farmington next Wednesday!!  Go Lady Cats!!
