Amy Dawn Kennedy, daughter of Melanie Ann Kennedy Shake and the late James Edward Helms, was born in Dexter, Mo. on Nov. 22, 1976, and died in Dexter onApril 7, 2011, at the age of 34.

She had lived in Dexter all of her life. She was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Dexter.

Surviving are two sons, Brandon Michael Patrick Kennedy-Newell and Gatline James Odean Kennedy-Newell both of Dexter; one daughter, Arianna Desiree Kennedy-Carter of Dexter; her mother, Melanie Ann Shake of Dexter; two sisters, Ashlie Kennedy and Angela Hays both of Dexter; her maternal grandmother, Shirley Kennedy of Dexter; five aunts and uncles, Sharon Helms of Sikeston, Ben Kennedy of Little Rock, Ark., Terry Kennedy of Puxico, Mike Kennedy of Dexter, and Patricia Sharp of St. Peters. She is also survived by two very special friends, Sharon Kruse and Joe Robins. Many other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Amos Kennedy, and her paternal grandparents.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, after 11 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Mo. with the Rev. Tim Russell of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Sadler's Chapel Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
