Special Weather Statement - Heat Index Could Reach 100 Degrees

Stoddard County, Missouri - The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement until 6 p.m. CDT Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

HEAT INDEX VALUES ON TRACK TO REACH NEAR 100 DEGREES...

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL PRODUCE ANOTHER SWELTERING HOT AND HUMID AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES ARE STILL ON TRACK TO CLIMB INTO THE LOWER HALF OF THE 90S FOR HIGHS THIS AFTERNOON.

THEY WILL COMBINE WITH HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS TO PUSH HEAT INDEX VALUES UP TO NEAR THE CENTURY MARK. T

HESE HEAT INDICES MAY WELL REMAIN AT OR CLOSE TO 100 DEGREES FOR SEVERAL HOURS THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING, BEFORE FINALLY COOLING OFF AFTER 6 PM. THOSE WORKING OR PLAYING OUTDOORS TODAY SHOULD MAKE SURE TO HAVE PLENTY OF WATER ON HAND.

STAY HYDRATED AND TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS FROM OUTDOOR ACTIVITY. PREVENT VEHICLE HEAT RELATED DEATHS. LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK!
