A southward moving upper level disturbance will continue spur the development of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon over parts of southeast Missouri and extreme southwest Kentucky this afternoon.
Given the very cold air aloft associated with this weather disturbance, some of the stronger rain showers and isolated thunderstorms may produce brief, but small, hail at times.
A public report of one quarter to one half inch hail was noted near Ellsinore, along Highway F.
As the sun gradually sets this afternoon and into the early evening, the coverage and intensity of the showers and isolated thunderstorms should diminish quickly.
Most of the rain activity should completely dissipate by the middle of the evening across the area.

.. ANOTHER STRONG, SLOW-MOVING STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING MORE MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL TO THE REGION WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN IS FORECAST, WITH THE HEAVIEST RAINS FALLING OVER AREAS FROM PERRYVILLE MISSOURI THROUGH PINCKNEYVILLE, MT VERNON AND FAIRFIELD ILLINOIS.
A LARGE MAJORITY OF THIS RAIN IS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING, WHEN SOME EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE. WHILE THESE RAINFALL AMOUNTS PALE IN COMPARISON TO THE HEAVY RAINS THAT FELL OVER THE WEEKEND, THEY WILL SERVE TO AGGRAVATE EXISTING FLOODING AND POSSIBLY LEAD TO NEW FLOODING PROBLEMS.
