

The Bernie Mules softball team defeated Summersville Wildcats 15-1 on Wednesday, May 14th thanks in part to eight runs in the third inning of the Class 1, District 3 Championship.
Kerri Botsch laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, Blair Pleimling doubled, scoring one run, Riley Buttress induced Maci Botsch to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run score, Kalli Mason singled, scoring two runs, Mikalyn Kirkwood singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Alisyn Simpson singled, scoring a run.
The Lady Mules go on the scoreboard in the first inning after a single to left side of the infield, Summersville committed an error and Rylie Powell singled to center field, each scoring one run. In the second Kirkwood grounded out, but added one run, making the score 5-0.
Pleimling allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. buttress stepped in the circle for Summersville. She surrendered nine hits and 15 runs (nine earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking seven.
Simpson and Pleimling each collected two hits, Mason, Botsch, and Kirkwood each drove in two runs. Botsch paced the Mules with tow walks.
Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Four Mules stole multiple bases totaling 18 for the game.
Bernie will now host Plato in quarterfinal action on Tuesday, May 20th at a time to be determined.

The Dexter Bearcats will finish their regular baseball season on Wednesday, May 14th at the Bloomfield High School field. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
The Bearcats have been able to drive runners home from the base paths this season, hitting 0.349 with runners in scoring position. They will look to use that to their advantage when they go up against the Wildcats.

The Advance High School Golf team returned from a brief hiatus this year and had a strong showing at the district tournament, held in Eugene at Redfield Golf Course.
The Hornets placed 5th out of 14 teams and Cole Curtis qualified for the State Championships next week in New Bloomfield.

Congratulations to the Junior High Puxico Lady Indians…....the 2025 SCAA JH Softball Champions!!
This team went an impressive 11-0 on their undefeated season. Tonight, they had to battle for the championship title. Over the season, the Lady Indians scored a whopping 159 runs while only allowing their competitors to score a combined 10 runs all season, 4 of those runs being earned tonight by the Bernie Mules in the championship game.
Pitcher, Reece Mattingly, and catcher, Annabelle Allen, took care of the team for an earned 135 strike outs!
Lots of impressive hits and plays by the team, and it was a thrilling ride cheering them on tonight.
