Bell City HS Athletes Earn Academic All-State Honors
The Bell City High School announced on Wednesday that seven baseball athletes earned honors with the Missouri Baseball Coaches Association Academic All State Team.

Baylor Eftink, Kale Richardson, Linc Scherer, Jake Asher, Dawson Loomes, Blaine Scheible and Landon Stewart were named to the MCA Academic All State Baseball Team.

To qualify for the Academic All State Baseball Team, players must be on the varsity roster, exclude freshmen, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale by January. Additionally, players must be a senior and have a minimum

2025 Class 1, District 3 Champions, the Bernie Lady Mules Defeat Summersville

The Bernie Mules softball team defeated Summersville Wildcats 15-1 on Wednesday, May 14th thanks in part to eight runs in the third inning of the Class 1, District 3 Championship.

Kerri Botsch laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, Blair Pleimling doubled, scoring one run, Riley Buttress induced Maci Botsch to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run score, Kalli Mason singled, scoring two runs, Mikalyn Kirkwood singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Alisyn Simpson singled, scoring a run.

The Lady Mules go on the scoreboard in the first inning after a single to left side of the infield, Summersville committed an error and Rylie Powell singled to center field, each scoring one run.  In the second Kirkwood grounded out, but added one run, making the score 5-0.

Pleimling allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two.  buttress stepped in the circle for Summersville.  She surrendered nine hits and 15 runs (nine earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking seven.

Simpson and Pleimling each collected two hits, Mason, Botsch, and Kirkwood each drove in two runs.  Botsch paced the Mules with tow walks.

Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game.  Four Mules stole multiple bases totaling 18 for the game.

Bernie will now host Plato in quarterfinal action on Tuesday, May 20th at a time to be determined.

The Dexter Bearcats will finish their regular baseball season on Wednesday, May 14th at the Bloomfield High School field. Game time is 4:30 p.m.

The Bearcats have been able to drive runners home from the base paths this season, hitting 0.349 with runners in scoring position.  They will look to use that to their advantage when they go up against the Wildcats.

Player Highlight:
Jackson Howard hits and pitches for Dexter Varsity Bearcats. Howard primarily plays first base on the field. Howard has hit for power this season with one home run, two triples, and six doubles among Howard's 31 hits. Howard gets ahead in the count fast on the mound. Howard has thrown first pitch strikes to 63 of the 117 batters they've faced this season. About Dexter Varsity Bearcats:Dexter Varsity Bearcats has a 16-9 record this season. Howard's 1.189 OPS leads Dexter Varsity Bearcats. The right-handed hitter has a 0.552 OBP and a 0.638 slugging percentage this season. Beau Carrier leads Dexter Varsity Bearcats with 42 and two-thirds innings pitched. The starting pitcher has a 1.97 ERA this season. Jaxon Miller leads Dexter Varsity Bearcats with 148 total fielding chances this season. Miller's primary position is catcher. About Bloomfield Varsity Wildcats:Bloomfield Varsity Wildcats has played well lately, going 9-1 in their last 10 games. They have a 17-3 record overall. Cole Curtis Qualifies for MSHSAA State Golf Tournament

The Advance High School Golf team returned from a brief hiatus this year and had a strong showing at the district tournament, held in Eugene at Redfield Golf Course.

The Hornets placed 5th out of 14 teams and Cole Curtis qualified for the State Championships next week in New Bloomfield.

Great effort by the team and coaches. Congratulations!

2025 SCAA JH Softball Champions and a Perfect Season

Congratulations to the Junior High Puxico Lady Indians…....the 2025 SCAA JH Softball Champions!!


This team went an impressive 11-0 on their undefeated season. Tonight, they had to battle for the championship title.  Over the season, the Lady Indians scored a whopping 159 runs while only allowing their competitors to score a combined 10 runs all season, 4 of those runs being earned tonight by the Bernie Mules in the championship game.


Pitcher, Reece Mattingly, and catcher, Annabelle Allen, took care of the team for an earned 135 strike outs!


Lots of impressive hits and plays by the team, and it was a thrilling ride cheering them on tonight.
