Rainey-Mathis Funeral Sponsors PIZZA PARTY for Students
Dexter, Missouri - Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home, sponsored a pizza party for T. S. Hill middle school 6th grade history students for their assistance in placing the Christmas Wreaths at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery on December 12th.

Mindy Thurmon encourages the student to raise money each year for the Wreaths Across America event.  She is the 6th grade history teacher at T.S. Hill Middle School.

The students raised over $1,600 and have increased their goal to $2,000 for the 2016 event.

Cemetery Supervisor Ken Swearingen was on hand to personally thank those who participated.

Pizza was served to the students by the Administrative staff of the school.

Greg Mathis hopes that this will become an annual service project for the school and Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home looks forward to sponsoring the pizza party on a annual basis.

Dexter Students Raise Money for Wreaths Across America
Dexter, Missouri - T.S. Hill Middle School 6th grade history students raised more than $1,600 for Wreaths Across America held annually at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Mindy Thurmon who sponsors the students says next year their goal will be $2,000.  The students were also honored with a Pizza Party sponsored by Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Wreaths Across America mission "Remember, Honor, Teach, is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on a specified Saturday in December in Arlington, as well as veterans cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.

Addie Roth Earns Positive Office Referral
Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honors Addie Roth with the Positive Office Referral certificate.

This award is presented to students who consistently show the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN at Southwest Elementary in Dexter.

Addie was nominated by her first grade teacher Mrs. Earnheart and her classmates.  She also received a certificate, a golden loop, and a free taco from Taco Bell.

Mr. Eldreth says, "Addie is always on task showing the 3R's and setting a positive example for her peers."

Addie is the daughter of Jeffrey and Alicia Roth.

November Elks Students of the Month
Dexter, Missouri - Larry White, Dexter Elks Lodge Member presented certificates and $50.00 checks for Savings Bonds to two Dexter High School seniors.

November Elks Lodge Students of the Month are Garrett Kyle and Erin Lauters.

Garrett is the son of Roger and Sherry Medler.

Erin is the daughter of Ronald and Kollete Lauters.

Garrett and Erin are competing with honorees from the other Stoddard County schools for the Dexter Elks Students of the Year.

Both students, along with their parents and counselor, Judy Patterson, will be honored with a banquet to be held at the Dexter Elks Lodge later next spring.

The Elks Students of the Year will be announced at the 2016 spring banquet.

Poplar Bluff Students Named to All-State Choir
Poplar Bluff, Missouri - Poplar Bluff High School seniors Mathew Pickard (left) and Christian Cmehil-Warn were selected for the All-State Choir on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Cape Central High School.

The quartet auditions were held after the All-District Choir performance, which featured the duo along with Alyssa Cook, Hannah Earley, Hunter Ellis, Natalie Hunsaker, Ariel Judd, Shelby Ross and Hunter Turner.

Conducted by co-director of choral studies Dr. Julie Yu-Oppenheim of Kansas State University, the All-State Choir will perform on Saturday, January 30, 2015 in Tan-Tar-A at Osage Beach.
