In Memory of Berladean Clark

In Memory of Berladean Clark
Berladean Clark, daughter of the late Clarence Hughes and Ruth Knight Hughes was born on March 12, 1935 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life on July 2, 2017 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 82.

Mrs. Clark was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter.  She had worked at the International Hat Factory and also the Dexter Senior Center.  She had an amazing voice and sang gospel songs in many different venues.  She passed her love for music down to her children, as they would sing together as a group.

On January 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Clark in Piggott, Arkansas.  Mr. Clark preceded her in death on July 4, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Clark and his wife Wanda of Ozark, Missouri and David Clark and his wife Sandra of Dexter; by one daughter, Vickie Seymore and her husband Don of Dexter; by two brothers, Darrell Hughes of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Bill Hughes of Lowry City, Missouri; by one sister, Bonnie Bilderback of Dexter and by eleven grandchildren, Jeffrey Clark, Justin Clark, Jeremy Clark, Joshua Clark, Jason Clark, Amber Nea, Preston Clark, Lindsey Robinett, Cody Conner, Jessica Brown and Ashley Miller and by fourteen great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind a special friend, Toby Rangel.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Hughes.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. (NOON).  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at NOON in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Ron Beaton officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

In Memory of Carl V. Rice
Carl V. Rice, son of the late David Luther Rice and Gladis Cossey Rice was born on November 28, 1932 in Portageville, Missouri and departed this life on June 27, 2017 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 84.

Mr. Rice was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.  He had worked at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis in their surgical suite.

On May 2,2004, he was united in marriage to Barbara Dix Gainer in Malden.  Mrs. Rice survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Carla J. Rice of Dexter; by one brother, Marlan Rice of Poplar Bluff; by two sisters, Hazel Fulmer of Porter, Texas and Linda Ray Guthrie of Campbell; by seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Howard Rice.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, June 30, 2017 from Noon until 1:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jared Hancock and Rev. Shane Mallard officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In Memory of Larry Wayne Plunkett Sr.

Larry Wayne Plunkett Sr., son of the late Paul Lee Plunkett and Alta Duvall Plunkett was born on November 21, 1947 in Kennett, Missouri and departed this life on June 25, 2017 at his residence in Poplar Bluff at the age of 69.

Mr. Plunkett was a retired member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.  He also ran in a special election for Sheriff of Wayne County and won serving a two year term, he was also successfully elected a second time to fill his own four year term.  He was a member of the Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, a member of the Master’s Program, Missouri Sheriff Association, Missouri State Troopers Association, a member of the NRA and a former Mason.  He was also appointed by Governor Matt Blunt, to serve as a Commissioner for the Missouri Gaming Commission.  
He is survived by two sons, Larry Plunkett Jr. and wife Angie of Eugene, Missouri and Terry Plunkett and wife Jill of Hurst, Texas; by two daughters, Julie Coleman and husband Nathan of Poplar Bluff and Whitney Limanen and husband Eric of Williamsville, Missouri; by two brothers, Carroll “Lee” Plunkett of Jacksonville, Illinois and Richard D. Plunkett of Williamsville; by three sisters, Frances E. Plunkett of Poplar Bluff, Mildred Nasby of St. Louis, Missouri and Amanda Stoner of Poplar Bluff and by nine grandchildren, Lauren Plunkett, Lane Plunkett, Zack Plunkett, Grant Plunkett, Hays Coleman, Ethan Tinnin, Miles Coleman, Elijah Kae Limanen and Baby Limanen arriving later this year.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Plunkett.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Byron Beck officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery near Pyletown with Missouri State Highway Patrol Honors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the 18 FORELife c/o Scott Kruse, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, Missouri 63841 OR the Church Apartment Ministry, www.churchapartmentministry.org.  Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.

In Memory of David Tilley

David Tilley, son of Larry Tilley and Carol Hoss Tilley of Essex, Missouri was born October 18, 1976 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on June 22, 2017 at the age 40.

Mr. Tilley was a foreman at Craftsman Trailers in Sikeston. He enjoyed four-wheeler riding and was a dirt track racing enthusiast.

David was currently engaged to his long time girl friend, Melissa Wright.  She survives him.

Besides his fiancé and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Nickol and her husband Greg Fowler of Qulin, Missouri; by one son, Preston Tilley of Essex, Missouri; by two brothers, Larry Tilley Jr and his wife Brittany of Essex, Missouri and Ronnie Tilley and his wife Carla of Dexter, Missouri; by three step children, Madalyn, Bradley, and Maggie Wright, and by two nephews, Hudson and Jordan Tilley.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kyle Carter officiating. 

Interment will follow in the New Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the account that has been set up at the First Midwest Bank in Dexter, under the names of his children, Preston W. Tilley or Frances N. Fowler.

In Memory of Charles Wayne Smith

Charles Wayne Smith, son of Opal Pauline Montgomery Smith and the late Cranston Columbus Smith, was born in Holcomb, Missouri on October 4, 1944 and departed this life at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on June 22, 2017 at the age of 72.
 
Mr. Smith was an educator, having served in area schools as Teacher, Principal, and was Superintendent of Risco High School until his retirement. He was a member of Strafford Masonic Lodge and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bernie, Missouri.
 
He was united in marriage to Judy Rogers in Springfield, Missouri on October 19, 1968.  Mrs. Smith survives in their home in rural Bernie, Missouri.
 
Other survives include his mother, Opal Smith of Bernie, Missouri; by two sons, Charles Jeffrey Smith & wife Monica of Columbia, Missouri, Jarrod Wayne Smith & wife Erin of Malden, Missouri; by two daughters, Jackie  Mayberry & husband David of Bernie, Missouri and Jodi Rae Smith & husband Glen of Kennett, Missouri; by one step-daughter, Tara Zeller & husband Greg of Jackson, Missouri; by two brothers, Jerry Dean Smith of Clarksville, Arkansas and Randy Dwight Smith of Dexter, Missouri; by one sister, Judy A. Freed of Bernie, Missouri; by nine grandchildren, Caitlyn and Morgan Smith, Jarret and Jaelyn Smith, Mason & Logan Mayberry, Jagger Smith, Matt and Andy Zeller; also by other relatives and many friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Cranston Columbus Smith.
 
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie, on Sunday Afternoon, June 25, 2017 starting at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary Gilbert Officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
