In Memory of Margie Ann Mathis

Margie Ann Mathis of Dexter, daughter of the late Ralph and Fanny Siler Griffy, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on December 24, 1938, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 19, 2017, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 26 days.

Mrs. Mathis had lived in the Bloomfield and Dexter areas all of her life. She had worked and retired from Elder's Manufacturing where she was a seamstress.

On December 28, 1960, she married Donald Mathis in Dexter, Missouri.

Surviving are her husband, Donald "Daddy Jack" Mathis of Dexter; one son and wife, Dale & Lori Mathis of Bernie; one daughter and husband, LaDonna & Steve Riney of Puxico; four grandchildren and spouses, Renee & Jeremy Holt of Puxico, Sarah McDonald of Bernie, Chris & April Riney of Puxico, Daniel Mathis of Bernie; seven great grandchildren, Kayla Holt, Hunter Holt, Tristyn McDonald, Alyssa Cowan, Hunter Cowan, Meghan Riney, Brooklynn Riney, and two more on the way; one sister, Linda Hallmark of Wappapello; and one sister-in-law, Betty Griffy of Nixa, Missouri. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survives.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. Larry Tucker of Matthews officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Evelyn Diaz

Evelyn Diaz of Kansas City, daughter of the late Carl Edgar and Opal Clara Hawley Needham, was born in Essex, Missouri on November 2, 1927, and passed away at the North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri on February 19, 2017, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 17 days.

Mrs. Diaz grew up in Essex, lived in St. Louis from 1946 to 1990, then moved to Dexter for a short time, she then moved to Sullivan, Missouri to be close to her family and then to Kansas City. She had worked in garment manufacturing and was a member of the Women's Amalgamated Garment Union.

Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Keller of St. James, Missouri; two sons, Don Jordan of Florida, Doug Jordan; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine C. Roberts of St. Peters, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Morris.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bloomfield Cemetery with with Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Updated Obituary for Nancy Wade

Nancy Carol Wade, daughter of the late Roy Gardner and Madeline Meyers Smith of Dexter was born on November 24, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on February 17, 2017 at her residence in Dexter at the age of 66.

Mrs. Wade was a Department Manager for Wal-Mart. She was a resident of Dexter.

On July 17, 1989 she was united in marriage to John T. Wade in Dexter.  Mr. Wade survives of their residence in Dexter.

Besides her husband and mother she is survived by one son, Brian Barnes of Jackson, Missouri; by two daughters, Melanie Geiger of Bell City and Carmen Maddox of Hawaii; by two step-sons, John M. Wade of Galesburg, Illinois and Jason T. Wade of Mount Vernon, Illinois; by one sister, Violet Higgs of Dexter; by eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, whom she was raised by, Steve Smith.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. 

A grave-side service will be conducted immediately following visitation at the Caroline Dowdy Cemetery with Herman Morse officiating. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home or a Shriners Hospital of the donors choice.

In Memory of Larry Barnes, Sr.

Larry Dale Barnes, Sr. was born on April 25, 1940 in Peach Orchard, Missouri to the late Carl Rufus Barnes & Eula Lidell Bailey Barnes. He departed this life on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 76 years 9 months and 22 days.

Larry Dale Barnes, Sr. has been employed at the Federal Mogul factory in Malden. He was retired out of the Red Cross Blood Services. Larry attended the Calvary Baptist Church and had served over 18 years in the National Guard. He was united in marriage to Lois DeMay on October 7, 1962 in Campbell, Missouri. She survives.

His other survivors include: Son: Larry Dale Barnes, Jr. of Wappapello. Daughter: Melissa Lynn Morgan & husband, Kerry Don of Malden. Three Grandsons: Matthew Cade Barnes & wife, Jodi of Lilbourn, W. C. Morgan & wife, Rebecca of Bloomfield and Chris Bowen of Piggott, Arkansas. Five great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons. Three brothers: Ronnie Barnes & wife, Beverly of Clarkton, James Roland Barnes & wife, Brenda of Clarkton & Billy Lynn Barnes & wife, Judy of Holcomb. Sister: Sue Dye & husband, J. H. of Kennett. Several nieces & nephews & several great-nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Sonny Barnes & Bud Barnes

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Reverend James Hamlett officiating.

Interment will be at Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
